Hii everyone!

Thank you all for the support and funny comments on my last journal XD I loved reading them through haha ;;; ~♥
Anyways I have had a subject on my mind for quite the time that I thought was pretty accurate right now.



I have seen many artist on this site getting extremely angry and upset when people copy them. Whenever it is behavioral, page layout or style of drawing.
Some people even get so mad they call out on these people and make them look bad and bashes them. ;;;

I can understand why you would get mad. Even I get upset when I see someone heavily copy me and then don´t credit at all.
But really, just think after for a while. "Why did they copy just you?"


I´m not saying that you should treat copying as some kind of flatter, but sometimes you actually have to consider some stuff.
How old are this person?
and WHY did they want to copy you?

If it is to gain popularity or to just the mock the artist in question I believe it is wrong and you can ask them to stop ;;
But, if they are 12-15 years old, new to deviantart or just looking up to their idol and want to be like them.. Then please be gentle everyone QwQ
They are admiring, they want to be THEM, they LOVE them. They don´t know what they do is wrong ;A;

Even if they copy your name, it´s the same thing. The wish to be somewhat closer to a person just like you, to be you ~

I´m going to tell you as short as possibly *I can be quite of a rambler* how I got my deviantart name and such.

When I was younger *around 5-6 years ago* I admired a girl soooo much! At that time I could barely speak english and I was only on Swedish websites. Specially the one called BCmanga~


Anyways, her name was YAMIATEMU <------ *look at the name guys* XDD;
I called her *as the little girl new to manga world* Yami-Sempaaaai ~♥♥
I TRULY looked up to her!
When she posted a drawing, I tried to draw a drawing similar to her and upload it.
Credit and such? I didn´t even what that kind of thing meant haha ;;

I´m pretty sure I must been a pretty creepy fan.
I even have my OWN FOLDER, still today, with the name of her OC, Naoki-kun, as I drew her gifts ALL THE TIME. I loved her OC as it was my own.
I admired her drawing skills so much, and the cuteness and designs!
I wanted to be JUST LIKE HER! I tried to talk to her as much as I can!


However BCmanga *the website* Went down, and she moved to Deviantart, and no longer by the name Yami. But as *MaruiTenshi.
I took the opportunity to take her name, but only adding a O. YamiO XD; as she wasn´t using it anymore neither wanted to be called that.

THAT IS HOW MUCH I LOVED HER! AND HER ART! ;;
At that time I didn´t feel guilty of doing it, I was just so happy and eager to be just as good as her one day!
And today, all my Friend calls me Yami, Yamio, Yamis etc. even IRL that is my nickname now.


So point is, I might have copied her name, but it became me in the end, and I´m a completely different person from her.
So guys, don´t worry that your lil fans will take over your spot or be you, you are still you.
Nobody can BE you and people know that ♥
They are their own person as well.

HOWEVER!
It is a different thing if the person is around 18, no longer young and naive, knows about credit rules, and still copies you and refuse to admit it and don´t give you credit. And ref all of your pictures.
Then we can say we have a problem XD;
But if as I said, a person is younger, new to internet world, don´t even know what stuff like credit or not taking over your idols style and name means, don´t be to harsh on them ;;

That´s the only time I take it to heart and feel bad ;;;

If the person is older, know what they are doing and practically are trying to steal your identity then it becomes a little disturbing, but not otherwise ;; for me at least.

ALSO! About tracing

For me it´s okay if you trace my art how much as you want! As LONG AS YOU DON´T UPLOAD IT! Then it will be counted as a trace and it´s not fair ;;
If you ref, don´t forget to add credit!
It only make the artist happy when they see that they have been credited, than not being credited.
We can recognize our own styles VERY EASY, and if you don´t want to get in trouble by other either, credit is always the best. You will only gain respect not look downers, no worry ♥
